In the upper left corner an angel escorts Ecclesia into the scene bearing a model of the tomb from which Christ is to arise on the third day. (See Merback.) Below her are Jesus's followers, most prominent a grieving John and a fainting Mary. On the right side of the image another angel pushes a refractory Synagoga out of the scene while below her the crowd of unbelievers shrinks away from the sight.
